A Deceptively Simple Card!

Hello Everyone!

Long time no post lol!  Been taking a bit of time to spend with my family and hubby!  I am leaving for Ottawa next week to spend 6 weeks with my daughter and my granddaughter Emily.

My late Christmas gift to myself.  I am looking forward to seeing and holding her soon.  I know I'm a doting Nana but hey what can you do when faced with an angel?

So my posts will be sporadic as I won't have much chance to stamp while in Ontario.  But I am sure I will make some opportunities to get together with other Stampin' Up! ladies while I am there, so you never know what will pop up on this blog.  When I was there for Emily's birth I made some friends and I am hoping to be invited to play of an afternoon or evening. lol.

Today I am going to show you a card I made using Four Feathers and the framelits that match this set.  I love the feathers in this set and have been looking forward to working with them.  This card took a little more work than I thought it would which is why I said deceptively simple.  I will be posting a photo tutorial tomorrow for you to peruse!

In the meantime here is the actual card -

My color choice was Lost Lagoon!  I love this blue/green and it works so well with Whisper White but also pairs well with so many other colors.

Here is a little close up of the cut out leaves.

Do you love it?  I know I do!  This card was made for my sister who celebrates a Birthday on Old Christmas day, January 6th.  Here in Newfoundland we celebrate January 6th as the last of the 12 days of Christmas.  I never take down my decorations or tree until after this date.  If it falls on a weekend we have been known to have a party.  lol.

I have to mention that while the rest of the card is current the greeting is not.  It was retired several years ago but I love the script so I still use it occasionally.

Stampin' Up! Business!

Before I go I just want to tell you about the new catalog that will be starting tomorrow!  Look for that on the right side of this blog.  I will be posting the catalog tomorrow when it goes live.

Also Sale A Bration starts tomorrow and will run until March 31st.  This flyer will also be posted tomorrow on the right hand side of the blog.  For those of you who are not familiar with SAB it is a wonderful time of the year.  Here's how it works -

For every $60.00 you spend you may choose one item out of the SAB flyer.
If you purchase $200.00 worth of merchandise before s/h and taxes then it's three items and $35.00 worth of free merchandise.

There are lots of wonderful stamp sets, Designer paper, Ribbon and Buttons or you may choose a set of Blendibilities markers.

I placed my order recently but unfortunately it won't arrive until after I leave for Ottawa so I will have to wait before I get to play with the new sets.  Drat really should have thought that one out just a little better don't you think?

So check back tomorrow for my tutorial on masking and the making of this beautiful card.

Feathery hugs!

  1. Hi Katherine, I'm a doting grandma too, and completely understand. You go and get all the cuddles you can!

I love this card. To be honest, I've never liked the feathers in any way, but your idea to stamp them on vellum is brilliant. Thank you for sharing this look.

  2. thank you for you kind comment. I got as many cuddles as I could in two months but alas they are never enough lol!

I am so glad you liked this card, vellum always softens up the image and I use it for many of my cards.

Love getting comments so feel free to pop in anytime and let me know what you think!
