TGIF! And a Card!

Hi there Stamper friends!


Just breezin' in for a quick post before the weekend.  I am working on a bunch of projects right now - Christmas Stamp a Stacks or as we say in Newfoundland - "Get Er Done" classes, Class projects for Christmas and of course my Swap for November SU conference in St. John's

I also have a Simple but Beautiful class on Sunday which promises to be a lovely day with lovely ladies.  Excited for sure!

Today's share is a card I designed for this class.   I had decided to do Birthday, sympathy etc but then I had a look at the calendar and  "Holy Crap on a Cracker!  It's almost November and maybe I should do Christmas cards instead!"  So back to the drawing board for me!

But have yourself a little lookie loo at my card -

 

I used Bermuda Bay and Old Olive ink for my colors, I used "Flower Shop" and "A Work of Art"    and "Bloom with Hope"  I embossed the card, after I stamped the images, with the Honeycomb folder.  Then I stamped the chevron image from "Work of Art" in Old Olive ink and punched it out using Bird Builder Punch.  Stamped the flowers and popped them up with dimensionals and added the leaves. Bamm done!

50 Wreaths stamped and cut out using Wondrous Wreath in Smoky Slate and Lost Lagoon!  My two new fav colors.

 

450 Silver Glitter dots!  I KNOW!  What am I thinking?  Apparently I didn't think this through!

 

50 Noel's run through the Big Shot in Silver foil paper!

 

And 50 Bows from the Wreath set stamped in Lost Lagoon, run through the Big Shot and treated with a Snow Flake and a Rhinestone in the middle.  So handled 200 times to add elements and dimensionals. 

 

AND I'M STILL NOT FINISHED!

A Little Pink, a Little Blue!

Hey there, everyone!

It's the Blog Hogger back with a card I hope you all like. Well, realistically I don't expect everyone to like it. After all, people's tastes are different. I will be quite satisfied if 60% of you like it. lol

However, to up the chances that it may appeal to a larger audience, I did the card in two colors. (Okay, actually I made it in two colors because I liked it so much that I wanted to replicate it. lol)

Here're the two cards, side by side:

What do you think? I love the pop of color on each one in the form of the flowers and designer series paper (DSP), as well as the random splatters compliments of the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set.

Details:

• Stamp sets: Gorgeous Grunge, Flower Shop, Petite Petals, Simply Sketched (I used the leaf stamp and colored it with a marker, avoiding the berries on the stem)
• Cardstock: Whisper White, Marina Mist, Strawberry Slush
• Ink: Marina Mist, Strawberry Slush, Old Olive
• Extras: Angled Tag Topper punch, Pearl Basic Jewels, random DSP, ribbon

Seriously, everyone, I love the Flower Shop & Petite Petals stamp sets with coordinating punches so much that I could do every card with them! They are just so fast and easy to use!

It's That Time of the Year to Say Goodbye!

Hi, everyone! It's the Blog Hogger again!

(Now, don't panic about the title! Kathy isn't closing down her blog! LOL)

For any of you who didn't already know, I'm a teacher. This means that my year runs from September (new beginnings) to June (sigh of relief)! LOL

June also means saying goodbye to friends. (See, now the title makes sense. LOL) I don't mean saying, "See you in September!" I mean saying goodbye to those who are moving on in life, whether that means a job in another place or retirement.

This year I have had two people close to me retire. Conveniently (for you), one was a male and one was a female. That means I have two very different cards to showcase!  :)

First, let me show you the male card:

This card was super easy to make, and yet had a lot of impact! Here are the details;

• Cardstock: Night of Navy (card base, although the picture doesn't show it well), Smoky Slate, Whisper White)
• Ink: Night of Navy, Smoky Slate, So Saffron
• Stamp Sets: Gorgeous Grunge, Sassy Salutations
• Extras: Angled Tag Topper Punch, Night of Navy ribbon, Dimensionals (for popping up the sentiment)

The second card is slightly different. Really, there's just a bit of a difference...

Seriously, female cards are just more fun to make! LOL  While this card took a bit more time to make, it was worth it to see the look on her face when she opened it up!

So, there you have it, folks. While it wasn't fun to say goodbye, it was fun to make the cards and see the looks on their faces when they opened them up, knowing I had specifically made the cards for them.

Happy Mother's Day!

Good day my Lovelies!

I am popping in today to wish all my readers a very Happy Mother's Day!  I hope your day is filled with love, laughter and sunshine.

I have the first two but the sunshine is a little harder to come by today in Newfoundland. lol.  I'm going to light some candles and see if I can't make my own shine!

I do have a share for you today it's a Mother's day card I made for my mom and MIL.  And a little project that I decided to do with some wee girls at a Mother's day class.

Here you go -

 

Ok it's official - Coastal Cabana and Calypso Coral are my two favorites right now.  Love the bright and sunny colors.  I used Petite Petals for the flowers and the sentiment is from the May Paper Pumpkin kit.  I used the Stripes embossing folder.  (It's hard to see it but I did!)

 

I had a class with some little ladies and this is the project we made along with the card above.  This is a Seed holder.  I used the Deco Framelit (the largest one) and cut it just above the folded line to form a pocket.  I used sticky strip to hold the sides together.  I used the same colors as the card above and added the larger flower using the Flower Shop stamp set.  The sentiment is from Chalk Talk.

 

Here is the set.  We had lots of fun making this and I think it is beautiful.

New Favorite Color!

Hi everyone!

It's the Blog Hogger here. I have a very new favorite color! It's Calypso Coral!!!

I'm actually surprised by that. Typically I'm not a coral kind of person. I really love pinks and reds, and everybody who knows me knows that about me. But coral...nope, not my color. Won't wear it! Can't make me! lol

However, I was working on a card and needed something to go with Smoky Slate. I tried a variety of different colors but it just wasn't working for me. As a last resource, I decided to try Calypso Coral. Turns out that I really liked the pop of color and it worked beautifully with the Smoky Slate!

What do you think?

It's a pretty clean and easy card, but the Calypso Coral really adds the punch I wanted!

Flower Shop

Good day Stampers,

I am dropping in for a quick post today.  Made a quick easel card today.  Love the stamp set "Flower Shop"

I do find if you have a clear mount set that it can be a challenge to make sure that the stamp is stuck on properly.  I added a black marker dot on the bottom of each stamp so that I can make sure it will work with the matching punch.  Make sense?

Here is the card -

 

I used Mosaic Madness designer paper in Strawberry Slush for my background.  I made sure the easel stood up by adding the Happy Birthday greeting with dimensionals.  I used Pool Party and Island Indigo ink for my flowers and a pearl for the center.  It was a quick card and simple.  I am not sure if I need anything else or not.  Maybe some greenery?  What do you think?

One Layout - Two Different Cards!

Good Day Inky People!

I have returned from the wilderness and have been busy cleaning up the  mess that is my craft room.  It's pretty bad in here!  I usually only get home long enough to make a mess and then back to the camper.

Since my card stock took a holiday last week and didn't come camping with me I was pretty frustrated but the crafting gods took pity on me and sent my hubby out of town and now I have a WHOLE WEEK to play!  Better not spend this week sleeping!

So this morning I was inspired to make a couple of cards and decided to use the same layout (why change it if it ain't broken?) and make two using the same colors (almost) and the same idea!  It worked out beautifully if I do say so myself.

I used Off the Grid for the Background.  I stamped it in Coastal Cabana, which is the same color card stock.  I embossed the flowers from Fabulous Florets, in White embossing powder.  I sponged them using  Coastal Cabana, Strawberry Slush and Summer Starfruit (this color is starting to grow on me) and I colored the leaves in with a Pistachio Pudding marker. 

 

 Oh and I used the Sponge Daubers instead of sponges as I find them better for controlled sponging.

 

I stamped the sentiment in Baked Brown Sugar.  This card was sponged and cut out by hand, so if you don't enjoy fussy cutting then this card is not for you lol.

 

Now on to the other card -

 

 

 

As you can tell this one is the same but very different!  I used Gorgeous Grunge for the back ground and Flower Shop and also Papillion Potpourri.  I embossed the flowers in White embossing powder and sponged the flowers in the same colors as before but I did change the Strawberry Slush color to Crisp Cantaloupe.  Now for the BIG change!  Every one of these images were punched out!  I used the Flower Shop punch and the Petite Butterfly punch.  Can you say Easy?

 

 I colored the butterflies in Pistachio Pudding and used them as leaves.  I added another butterfly to the center of the flower closest to the sentiment.

 

Time to do this one about 10 minutes, time for the first card, Oh  double that and a few more. lol.

The Night of the Mosquito!

      

Good Day Stampers!

 

What a night I had here at the park. Last night for some reason my refuge, aka trailer, was invaded by mosquitoes.  I spent the night swatting and killing dozens of the pesky little critters.   DH and I couldn’t figure how the little buggers were getting in.  We checked every window and crevice and to no avail.  But I finally found the culprit at 1:00am in the morning – DH was fiddling with my window in the bedroom and knocked the screen out at the top of the window.  So you see that meant a direct line to  my  legs and  a late night snack.  I have so many bites that my body was a burning itching mess.  I am a mess to begin with so this didn’t have a whole lot of impact except to add to my misery!  Coming home from a visit with family sucks!!!! ( and so do mosquitos)

Because I was up until 3:00am doing combat,  I was a little tired today so did nothing more strenuous than having a nap. 

But the good news for you is the weather cleared up and I did get a pic of the card I made yesterday so I have that to show you!  I did two cards but I promised my sister that I wouldn’t post Christmas cards in July, so unless there is a huge outcry in favor of, I will hold off! 

I got my pre-order from the soon to be released Occasions Mini just before I left on Friday.  I have some lovely new stamps and some very new accessories.  But they are for Christmas!  I do have a fall stamp but managed to leave it home.  Once again I am wishing I had more room in my little car.  Maybe next time my DH starts making noises about a van I will be more receptive. 

So here is your share for today –

 I started with an Island Indigo card base.   Added a layer of Whisper White which had been run through the Big Shot with the Lacy Brocade embossing folder.  I had a Doily in Whisper White card stock and used that as my circle. 

I stamped the flower from Flower Shop in Island  Indigo, Pool Party and Daffodil Delight ink on Velum card stock and Whisper White card stock.  I punched out the flowers with the matching punch and layered them with dimensional.  I then cut out some leaves in Pistachio Pudding using the Big Shot and the little leaves die.  I added them in a circle and placed the leaves around the flowers.  I added some flowers and a button done with the Clay and molds.  I colored the Pool Party flower with re-inkers and the Island Indigo flower with my aqua painter  and some ink from the lid of the matching color.  I did the same with the button.

I stamped the greeting and punched it out with a scallop circle punch and then I punched out some Island Indigo card stock to frame the circle.  I added a rhinestone and called it a day.  I spent lots of time on this one  ladies,  it was supposed to be a “Simple” card but escalated as I was putting it together.  Yikes it’s like it has a mind of it’s own.   Please don’t notice that I am not using the exact names of the SU products as I don’t have my catalog and because I have so many new products I can’t for the life of me remember all the names.  :O)

 

I have another share for you today - it's not a card but the lovely Miss Emily!  She is almost a year old now, such  a little sweetie and I just had to show you this pic.

 

Look at that little face.  I don't know how my daughter says no to her! lol  She is growing up way too fast!

 

Well that's my share for today I will see what I can come up with for tomorrow!  Hopefully no little critters in the trailer tonight!!!!
