Early Present!

Good Day Stampers!

How is everyone doing?  Got all your gifts and shopping and decorating done?  No?  Well you better get a hustle on cause Santa is not going to wait for you! lol

I am going to do some bragging here so if you don't want to read this then look away now!  I got up yesterday morning and started in on some Christmas Projects and remembered to check the snail mail.  Looking for a couple of things for my DH,  Well guess what I found?  I got a present from my up-line Kay Smith.  Apparently I was Number one in sales and recruiting for 2011 in Newfoundland.  To say I am pleased and proud is somewhat of an understatement.  I am so thankful to all my ladies for helping me achieve this goal.  Without you I am nothing! 

For those of you who don't know our island of Newfoundland, Corner Brook is a smallish city with several out laying areas.  The main city and our capitol, is St. John's and it would make three or four of us here on the West Coast.  But despite the size and population I managed to pull off a Number One!  Yay us!

So what did I get you ask?  Well have a look for yourselves!

This is the outside of the DVD case and the Christmas Card that Kay sent me.

And all of this was packed on the inside.  I got some pearls (can use these for sure) a pen with Super Strawberry Stampers on it (Kay's Group name) a beautiful card and a gift certificate for Timmy's.  Put a super sized smile on my face for quite awhile.  Thanks Kay, I loved it!

 I have a share for you today.  Every year I offer my stampers a contest.  I design 12 cards - one a week and they have to re-create the layout.  For every Week they enter (by sending me a pic of the card) they get an entry for the contest.  They also have to sign up for this contest because it's not automatic.  I had such a huge response this year.  I was so pleased to see the creativity and also pleased to get so many e-mails per week.  This card was Week 1. 

I used Night of Navy c/s and Embossed the greeting in Silver.  The snowflakes come from Serene Snowflakes and to get the shimmer I used Platinum shimmer paint daubed onto the stamp and then stamped onto the card stock. 

This side pic gives you an idea of how the snowflakes look.  Very pretty!

Now for the big Announcement!  The winner of this contest is - Tracey Greening!   Yay you girl!  Your name was drawn and I will be getting that gift to you.  I will post a pic of the gift tomorrow.

So today's joke is a funny card that I found while surfing the web.  I don't know if I mentioned it or not but I love anything to do with reindeer.  Just a smile this time not a groan - Sliding off my schedule hugs!

Dusting off an Old Technique!

Good day everyone!

Well I am having so much fun this week getting ready for my Annual Hostess Appreciation Christmas Party.  I have 25 extra special Christmas Cards made (which I can't show you cause everyone looks at this blog) and I am working steadily on the handmade Christmas gifts I usually give out.  Also getting the Hostess Basket of goodies ready and items for my prize patrol.  Games to set up, Make and take's to design and that's just this week.   OMG!  It's going to be AWESOME!!!

But I did manage to find time to dust off an old Technique that I haven't done in about 4 years.  That's right,  I said 4 years.  I did this technique when I first became a demonstrator and you know how it is, you find other things to play with. 

At this time of the year I love to emboss everything in sight with either gold or silver (and now the new Pewter embossing powder).  Something about the shine screams Christmas to me.  Also I love, love, love to make Christmas Cards.  I think it is my fav time of the year to be making cards.

So today's share is done using the polished stone Technique.  I just finished the card and tomorrow I will post the photo tutorial.  So drop back for a quick look won't you?

Serene Snowflakes and a Movie

Good Day Inky People!   Today's post is just a continuation of the last one.  Now that I have this masking and sponging thing in my head I am looking at all my stamp sets and saying HMMMM!   As for the movie thing well - Last Saturday I looked at my DH and asked him if he wanted to see a movie.  He said yes and we decided to watch one of the new ones.  No sooner had we decided but the phone rang and he was called out to work.  He works with the local power company and even if he is not on call he gets called out.  ALL THE FREAKING TIME!!!!!  Anyway I watched "Mars needs Moms"  It was cute but dark to watch. 

He came home 6:30am. the following morning and got a couple of hours sleep and got called out again.  So this week we had what the forecasters have called a "weather bomb" and I haven't had to cook supper all this week cause he has been working almost around the clock.  So until he retires I won't be asking him to watch anything at all let alone a movie. lol.

I am used to his being called out at all hours of the day and night but sometimes it's lonely.  Fortunately I have so much to do it helps.  News flash I finally am rounding the corner in my craft room.  (No pun intended lol. ) I have moved furniture and thrown out 5 bags of garbage (things I will never use again) and it is looking much better.  Now I just need to win some huge lottery so I can build a proper room.  haha like that's going to happen in my lifetime.

As I said since I did that photo tutorial on the fall card I have been looking at my stamp sets and wondering if I could  something with them.  So today's card uses "Serene Snowflakes"

This is a really hard card to photograph.  It's shiny and beautiful.  I used Baja Breeze, Bashful Blue and Marina Mist for the sponging.  And while the mask was on I wet my hand with a small amount of water and threw it on the card.  I wanted to see what would happen with the blue.  I was trying to make it look like snow.  I like it!  I removed the masks and used the Platinum Shimmer paint (116807) and sponge daubers (102892) to color the snow flakes.
