An Up Date!

Good day Creative People!

As my post suggests, this is a little up date on my road trip to Deer Lake on Saturday.  Nina Rice, one of my demonstrators, had a little get together weekend for two new demonstrators from La Scie.  I decided to crash the party and have a little stamping and meeting time with them.

As I said the other day, stamping, friends and food = happiness.  Well, I had so much fun chatting with these ladies I came home very up beat and of course no meeting would be complete without some advice and some new technique training.  We did a couple of techniques and I talked myself hoarse.  lol.

I only planned to stay for a couple of hours but I ended up staying until 6:30pm and then they wanted me to stay for supper or the night.  Hard to get away!  But, because of this meeting I came home energized and supremely glad I had Stampin' Up! in my life.

I read somewhere a comment about happiness -" Maybe happiness doesn't have to be about the big sweeping circumstances in your life, maybe it's about stringing together a bunch of small pleasures."

I think we work too hard trying to BE happy, when all we have to do is just enjoy the small things that make us peaceful and joyful.  Maybe we just have to Be in the moment!

So I had a card made the other day that to me feels peaceful and calming.  I used Serene Silhouettes and some water color paper.  Love my Aqua Painter too!

Here is the card -

I used Naturals White for my base and Always Artichoke and Marina Mist for the co-ordinating colors.  I used Water Color paper and my Aqua Painter for the sky.  I used Crumb Cake for the top part and Marina Mist for the middle and I colored the rest in White Craft ink to make it just that much whiter and added only a couple of touches of Marina Mist.  Because it was done in a sweeping manner the colors were splotchy and when they dried they looked amazing.

Can you guess what I used for the bushes on the bottom of the art Piece?  Can't guess?  Here's a clue - look at the top of the tree.  Yep, that's what I used.  Cool eh?  I over stamped in Old Olive and then in Early Espresso.  I stamped the tree from Serene Silhouettes in Black Stazon.  The Happy Birthday comes from Up Up and Away!

It's a really nice male card.  Not a flower, ribbon or sparkle in sight!

That's it for me today!  Happy and Serene hugs!

  1. SO cool that you used the top of the tree for the shrubs! I just used your card as my inspiration for an anniversary card for my husband's sister and her husband. Thanks for sharing!
