Birthdays!

Hi there Everyone!

May for me is a busy month!  Mother's Day, and several Birthdays make this month a hectic one.  I had a birthday on the 12th and will be showcasing a couple of cards that made their way to my mailbox later on this week.

But first I wanted to share a card I made for my DD for her Birthday.  She was overdue by two weeks and missed both  my Birthday and  Mother's Day!  Should have realized at that time the type of lady she would become.  One of Kind, Unique, and remarkable. 

Carrie loves to get my cards and she especially loves whimsical cards (and polka dots)  So I dusted off the set called "A Little Smile" because I just love those little hedgehogs.

Have a look at what I sent her -

 

I used Naturals White card stock for the base and ran the layer through the Big Shot with the Large Polka Dot Embossing folder.  I then used a sponge Dauber and Daffodil Delight ink and tried to hit all the dots. 

 

 

I am still in love with circles as you can see. But I thought it would be nice to keep the theme of circles since I was using polka dots.  I stamped the focal image on Whisper White card stock and fussy cut out the image.  I cut off the sentiment and added my own.  I colored the image with Early Espresso, Crumb Cake, Daffodil Delight, Pear Pizazz and Melon Mambo markers.  I popped up the image using Dimensionals.  Added a few little flowers using a Punch from the Itty Bitty Punches.  Added a couple of Candy dots and called it a day. 

 

Do you like it?  I thought it fit the whimsical bill to a Tee!

 

 

Now I haven't posted a picture of my favorite little girl in awhile and thought you might like to see how she has grown!  Still a funny and loving little person!  And the ponytails make me smile!

 

 

 

She is the spitting image of her mom at that age!

Upgraded Get Well Card

Hi there, everybody!

It's the Blog Hogger here, wanting to show you the "Get Well" card Katherine made for me.

As she noted in her previous post, she visited me on Sunday and I really enjoyed getting to spend some time with her...until I saw her comment, "She has been stuck in the house for two months and I guess she was so bored with her own company, mine just seemed sparklier.  It is so much easier to entertain the house bound.  They are like puppies and so easy to please haha!" While I added the italics, I mean really? I'm like a puppy!? What? (Truthfully, I found her comment hilariously funny, but don't tell her, okay?)

As she noted, she brought me cupcakes and, if you've ever been to one of her functions, you know her cupcakes are the best ever! Well, they were the best. Now they are all gone! lol 

The "Get Well" card she made me is so cute and was one she had done in one of her classes, with a special upgrade. Take a look and see what you think:

With the simple addition of a layer of vellum, some coloring, and a candy dot and twine to "hang" the "picture" she turned a nice card into a "WOW" card!

I love it...and her...and her sense of humor!

Colleen's Get Well Card - Sort of!

Hi there Stampers,

Monday has arrived and I am back in my craft room.  Over the weekend I went to Stephenville to visit with the Blog Hogger, aka Colleen, my sister.

We had a lovely afternoon.  She has been stuck in the house for two months and I guess she was so bored with her own company, mine just seemed sparklier.  It is so much easier to entertain the house bound.  They are like puppies and so easy to please haha!

 We had a lunch and I brought cupcakes.  I could and should have given her fruit, but sometimes you just need something that doesn't grow in a garden.

Colleen had her Get Well card I made for her and she thought it was really cute.  I made one like it in class but her card was a little upgraded.  I'm sure she will post soon so I will let her show you the changes I made.

Here is the original one for you to look at -

 

The stars were made using sponge daubers inked up with Strawberry Slush, Calypso Coral, Coastal Cabana and Hello Honey.  We used the Decorative mask from the new Annual Catalog.  Page 205.

 

We stamped "A Little Smile" in the middle of the card with Tuxedo Black ink.  I have a little feeling that I am loving this black ink.  For some reason the clean up is easier and the image is crisper.

 

So that's it for me today!   But I will leave you with a joke, because on Mondays it can be hard to smile! 

 

I tried to catch some fog today!  But I mist!
