A Masculine Card with Sail Away!

Good Day my friends!

Yippee it's Friday!  Looking forward to the weekend because I have a class here on Sunday.  Yah I know that's not generally why you get excited about Fridays but I'm a little quirky.  Ask anyone!

But before I show you a card I have some SU business I need to tell you about.  First up:

Stampin Ups New Catalog Delivery Schedule



Annual Catalog: Or affectionately know as IBC (Idea Book and Catalog)

Stampin UP has decided to move the date ahead a month for the New Catalog, it will go live on JUNE 1ST, 2012 (it used to be July 1st).  (I like this date better because you can pour over your new catty while on your Summer Holidays!)

As Demonstrators we get to pre-order on May 1st Yay!

This catalog will be slightly smaller than in the past and will be printed on lighter-weight paper to reduce the cost.

Seasonal Catalogs (known as the Mini Catalogs).

- there will now be 2 annual mini catalogs instead of 4, the Holiday Catalog and the Spring Catalog,

The Holiday Catalog will run from August 1, 2012 (pre-order for demonstrators in July), through the beginning of January, 2013.

The Spring Catalog will run from the beginning of January 2013 (pre-order for demonstrators in December), through May 31, 2013.

The new Seasonal catalogs will be larger in both size (8-1/2" x 11") and page count (about 40 pages), than the current mini catalogs.  (They will also be packed with new goodies for us crafty people!)

Stampin UP has also decided to discontinue the Decor Elements and their jewellry line, so watch the CLEARANCE RACK for those – Speaking of the Clearance RACK  (click on the link) – Have you been there lately?

Personally, as a Demonstrator I applaud Stampin Up for this move as it reduces the expense of running my business and gives me the opportunity to share more catalogs with more people to help me grow. As customers, you can expect the same content and great project ideas and like our clear mount stamps, our catalogs will take up just a little less space in your craft room!   Because when it's all said and done Stampin' Up! still rules!  :0)

Ok Whew, that's done, now for your Man card -

I used Soft Suede for the base and Pacific Point for the Strip of color.  I used a retired stamp "Well Worn" for the background and "Sail Away" stamped in Early Espresso.  Stamped again on a scrap of Pacific Point and cut out the sail.  Added a Happy Father's day and we are done!  This will be one of the cards I will be doing with the Rangers in Stephenville and also one of my Stamp a Stack cards for this month.  Simple but elegant.  I like it!  (Even if I have to say so myself, and apparently I do cause there is no one else here!).

Another Road Trip!

Good Day everyone!   Sorry for not posting very much this week but if you have been keeping tabs on me you will already know I have been a busy girl.  Lots of out of town work and now with Mother's Day on top of me - well suffice to say I'm not on top of things at the moment.  In fact I only just realized that I haven't even posted a girly/mother's day card in weeks.  What up with that?  In fact I have been doing so many masculine cards lately that I think I see some hair growing on my upper lip!  Oh wait that's menopause it happens to everyone - whew, thank goodness I thought my Testosterone levels were hitting a new high!    Anyway I am heading to Burgeo to do a class there for all the ladies who are volunteers there.  This is an Appreciation class set up for them by the co-ordinator.  I am getting them to do an all occasion card female version and also a Father's Day card.  So last night I designed a card for Father's day for them making it very simple as they are all Virgin stampers.  Here it is -

I used the new stamp I just got out of the Summer Mini called Sail Away.  I used Soft Suede card stock, Pumpkin Pie card stock and of course Whisper White.  I stamped the image in Soft Suede classic ink and lightly sponged the sky in Baja Breeze, the sea in Pacific Point and the horizon with Pumpkin Pie.  Added a greeting in Soft Suede and did some random stamping in soft suede using the same stamp.  A nice simple card for newbies.

I'm in the Navy! I'm in the Navy! Photo tutorial

Hi everyone!  Just getting back from a hectic evening in Baie Verte.  Once again they have exhausted me (but in a very good way).  I can't even speak no I mean I can't speak.  Good news for my DH lol.  Even my voice has given out. 

But even though I am tired I still found time to do a photo tutorial for you as promised.  I used the new single stamp image called "Sailing Away"  I found this card done in a similar way the other day and cased it with this stamp.  I like the clean crisp colors of white and blue and the fact that it is a simple card to do makes it all the more appealing to me.

 You need Pacific Point c/s, Sail Away Stamp, new Summer Mini, sponges, grid paper, snail tape, night of navy marker, cajun marker, something to mask with either paper or post it notes or card stock that can be taped to the paper to hold it in place.  Two way glue pen and Dazzling Diamonds.

 Start by lining up your whisper white card stock to the lines in the grid paper so the paper is straight.  Add a small bit of snail tape to the back to hold it in place.  Count up from the bottom, three lines and mark it with an x.  then count another four lines and mark another x. 

 Now take the paper and line it up with the x. Snail down the paper to hold it in place.

 Do the same with the other paper.  Get your ink and sponge and starting at the outside of the card stock and using small circles, sponge the whisper white c/s.

 Leave a white section in the middle of the c/s.  Make sure you don't have straight lines to mark this area.  You want it to look soft.

 Peel off the mask and you now have a lovely flat sea.

 Using a Night of Navy marker color in the sails, water and seagulls,  color in the boat with Cajun  Craze marker.  Now huff (breathe heavily) on the stamp and place it on the bottom water line. 

Add your greeting using Night of Navy ink and then take your two way glue pen and add glitter to the water.  And your have a beautiful card suitable for the male animal.

Birthday Bash

Good Rainy morning everyone!   Now announcing the arrival of a Birthday!  Yep my B-Day is rapidly approaching (and no cracks about getting old hear?) and once again I am offering all my loyal stampers a discount.   That's right it's my birthday and I am giving you a gift.  For three days May 11, 12 and 13th call and place an order with me and I will pay the shipping and handling.

 This is a preview of the new single stamp called "Sail Away" from the new Summer Mini that was just released.  I saw something like this done with the Uncharted Territory stamp set and thought it would work well with this stamp also.  So I can't take credit for the design this time.  I will be doing this card in Baie Verte tonight with all the fabulous stampers there.  Can you say "Road Trip"!!!

I know that I promised a photo tutorial today but there was a little family drama last night and I didn't get it done for you so tomorrow there will be a tutorial on how I made this card.

Quick sit down!!!

Good day Stampers.  I hope everyone is sitting down.  I wouldn't want anyone hurting themselves by falling over in shock.  I am posting again.  Three days in a row, and two posts yesterday.  I know what's up with me!   Even I can't believe it. 

I have a Stamp a Stack tonight and I had four of the cards done and cut but was talking with the hostess and she said she hoped I was doing an Easter Card and one for Father's day!  Needless to say I said yes - (don't read this Christine!) but I really didn't have one for Easter and I had yet to design one for Father's Day.  So last night in the middle of working on a project for a video for you all, I had to design an Easter card.  This is what I came up with. 

 I used the Scallop Square die for the big Shot as my background and the Springtime Vintage DSP along with the "Flower for all Seasons" stamp set.  I quite like it.  I really didn't have a set specifically for Easter but I think this works nicely don't you?

The next card for Christine's SAS is for Father's day and although I have King of the Grill and Lovely as a Tree, I was looking for something different.  Fortunately for me, my good friend Debbie, had just ordered this set called "Uncharted Territory" and it was only delivered the other day.  What a good friend she is.  I didn't even know I needed this set - talk about physic!  So even before she could play with it I thought I would do a sample card so she could see what could be done with this set and to make sure the rubber wasn't broken :O)

I used a very masculine color combo here and really out of my comfort zone!  More Mustard, Cajun Craze and Pacific Point!   But I am really happy with how it turned out.  This would also make a lovely B-Day card for the man in your life. 

 The new Summer Mini will be in your mailboxes in a few short days and there is a wonderful set in it for the men in your life.  There is also a single stamp of a sail boat which is quite affordable and as usual very versatile.  I actually have that stamp coming in a week or so which means you will be seeing some things done with that stamp and a few other goodies that I couldn't live without!

As for the project I am working on well I guess you will have to check in tomorrow cause it's not ready yet....but here is a clue.   It will be my table favors for Easter Sunday using the Build a Blossom stamp set and the co-ordinating punch!   Hahaha got your curosity up have I?   Oceans of hugs for you!
