Some Oldies but Goodies!

Hey there Stampers!

Today's post is all about some of the cards I did recently for my Mother-in-law's Church tea and sale.

Generally I don't post retired stamps but today I will make an exception because when I am not doing a class I love to work with my old favorites.

I took out a couple of last year's stamps and dusted them off then I gave one of them a modern touch.  Have a look and enjoy -

This one is a very simple card using Winter Memories.  I used Soft Suede and Real Red card stock.  I also used a retired embossing folder, Petals a Plenty.  I colored the wreath and bow and birds with markers.  Instead of coloring the whole sleigh I just followed the lines.  Makes this an easier and faster card.  Added a sentiment from Ornamental Pine and made a rolled banner.  No glitter but still an attractive card.

This card kinda evolved.  I started another card by stamping the background stamp Hardwood on Whisper White card stock in Crumb Cake, but it didn't  stand out enough for the card I had in mind.  I don't like to waste card stock, so back to the drawing board.  haha

I took out the crumb cake ink and dragged it over the card stock, right over the stamped image, then I did the same with Soft Suede ink and for the finishing touch I added Early Espresso ink.  Again just dragging the whole pad over the card stock.

Well imagine my surprise when I looked and saw the the original Hardwood stamp showed up better with a "woodgrain" finish.  Humm!  I had anticipated re stamping the image over the whole piece but apparently the stamped image caught the ink in a really life like manner.

Sweet!  So an experiement that worked.  Love it!  Enlarge the image and you will see exactly what I mean.

I used Beautiful Season (last year's stamp) and stamped the Chickadee image it in Memento Black on Whisper White Card stock and colored it in with markers.  Then I stamped the image again and fussy cut it out.

I had a couple of Real red stars on my desk and decided to cut out the image with the star framelits.  It works and I love it.

A mistake turned into a card.  Lovely!

That's my share for today, hope you enjoyed it!

Staring the Oldies hugs!

Another Winter Memory!

Hello there Stampers!

How is the shopping going?  I haven't done much but that's because I am so busy!  My hubby asked me what I wanted for Xmas this year and other than Carrie and Emily I have nothing in mind lol.  I know, a woman who doesn't want anything for Christmas!  Maybe I should see a doctor!

But seriously I have everything I could ever want.  But I do love to open up gifts so I guess I will ask for a couple of small things.  sigh!  I guess a trip to Europe qualifies as a large gift  right?

Now for some news!  I have just reached a milestone in my career with Stampin Up!  Thanks to all my stampers for helping me meet this milestone!  I could never have done it without all of you.  Special thanks to all my many Hostesses, you make doing this job so much fun that it hardly qualifies as a job!

Now what is this milestone you ask?  Well, on December 20th I will be celebrating my fifth year with Stampin' Up! and long ago I set a goal for myself.  I reached that goal last night.  Last night  my sales for the last five years reached $100,000.00.   Can you believe it?  I am over the moon happy and humbled.  When I started with SU I had no idea of what would come of it.  Since then, I have made friends for life, I have a thriving business that allows me to spend time with loved ones and my life is richer for it. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Ok that's enough mushiness for now!  I have another little announcement for you!  Stampin' Up! has another offer for you.  I know how great is that?

Now on to the card I have for you today!

Once again I am working with the images from Winter Memories.  This time I am using the skates!  Have a little look -

The main card is Marina Mist and a layer of Whisper White.  I used Brushed Silver card stock and ran it through the Holiday Frame embossing folder.  I also ran a piece of Whisper white through the oval frame using the Big Shot.  I stamped the image in Black Stazon on Whisper White card stock.  I used a blender pen to color in the skates.  I used Basic Grey for the skate blades.  I popped up the image using dimensionals.  Added a couple of rhinestones and a greeting punched out with the oval punch and matching scallop oval punch.

I need about 100 Christmas card so I have to get busy making them soon or no one will get one this year.  Why is it every year I vow to be ahead of the curve and then just before Christmas I think of all the things I didn't get done.  It's a vicious cycle.  Once upon a time I had Christmas all done and wrapped up by December 1st.  I know you don't believe me but I really did have it all done early!

That's it for today!  Skating on thin ice but totally happy hugs!

Winter Memories!

Good Day inky ones!

Today I am working with my favorite stamp set.  It's called Winter Memories and has some very nostalgic images.  I also had a visitor!  We spent some time today just playing and casing some cards.  Of course most of them got changed about a bit.

We always find that when we start out casing (copy and share everything) a little bit of us sneaks out and lands on the card.  Does that happen to you?

I have lots of Christmas stamp sets here but the first one we worked with was Winter Memories.  So are you ready for the card?  You are?  Ok - here you go -

I used the Sled image from the Winter Memories stamp set!  The base of the card is Basic Black and the Wood grained piece is done using the Big Shot, in Real Red and sponged a little bit with Cherry Cobbler to make the Grain stand out.  I ran a piece of White Organza ribbon across the card under the art piece.

I cut out the Garden Green piece with Apothecary Framelits and the next size down framelit for the sled image which I stamped in Stazon Black.  I colored the bits and pieces with a blender pen and several colors.  Real Red, Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive and Garden Green ink.  I left the rest of the image white.  After I mounted the main art piece with dimension dots I added some glitter using the Cherry Cobbler Dazzling Details and some of the clear Dazzling Details to the ribbon.  After it dried I put dimensionals on the back and attached it to the card.  I added a greeting to finish the card.

My friend and I were quite happy with how this turned out.  What do you think?

I have 4 more beauties for you over the next couple of days so stay tuned!  And I believe the "Blog Hogger" has something to brag about also!  She has been missing posting since I got back and has a couple of items loaded and ready to fire your way.  I can't wait to see what she has come up with!

So, that's my share for today!  Warm Winter hugs!

Holiday Mini Class!

Good day Inky people!

I finally have my Holiday Mini class done and ready to unveil!  I took some inspiration from the Holiday mini itself and some from creative people across the net!

This class is based on the new product from the holiday mini.  So looking forward to seeing the ladies again.

This is going to be a Short post today so on with the cards!

I took the pre printed tags and added some Gumball green to make a larger tag!  Really fast and easy!

Used the new Core'dinations card stock for this one and the stamp set Winter Memories!

I was trying to figure out the new Illuminations ink and played around with it for this card.  It's hard to see but I stamped with Snowflake Soiree and then punched out the cups and gingerbread man using the matching framelits for Scentsational Season.  This is a really cute set!

I used Midnight Muse card stock for this one and the Ornament Keepsakes stamp set and matching framelits.  I love the monochromatic look of this card.  So clean and crisp.

I have been finding the new in - colors for 2012 -2013 are fab for Christmas.  Gumball Green, Raspberry Ripple and Midnight Muse being my go to colors this year.

That's my share for today.!!  Have to prepare for my class!

Mini hugs!

Winter Memories!

Good day my Stampin' Friends!

Today was a beautiful day here in Corner Brook and my daughter, grandchild and I took a lovely drive to Lark Harbour.  It's about a 40 min drive from here and once there you can spend some time on a beach looking at the Atlantic Ocean.

The waves were awesome, the day warm and the baby slept while her mom and I soaked up the ocean views.

But before I left today I made a new Christmas Card using the "Winter Memories" stamp set.  This set has some lovely images of times gone by and does certainly bring back memories of ice skating and sledding on winter hills!

I don't know what it is about this time of year but I tend to wax poetic when doing anything related to Christmas. lol.  I know I am a mushy sort!

Okay, on to the card -

I embossed the skate image in silver embossing powder and used Pool Party ink and a blender pen to add a little color to the image.  I colored in the ribbon and holly on the skate with Real Red and Old Olive markers.

I found the red was not bright enough so I got out the Cherry Cobbler Dazzling Details and re-colored the ribbon.  Sparkly!

I colored the jewels with a red marker and added them to the Holly! Ok that works.  I ran some scrap Whisper White through the Big Shot with Designer Frames and cut out the oval.

I also ran Whisper White card stock through the BS using the new Holiday Frame embossing folder.

I added some Dazzling Diamonds to the embossed image and a Greeting stamped in Real Red.  It is really sparkly.  I love it!

Stay tuned for more from this set!!

Emily's day at the beach. (As usual she slept through it lol)

A little windswept but enjoying the baby and the sun!

I took this picture in Ottawa just before I left.  We went to a u-pick and got some lovely Honey Crisp apples.  Ate Apple Cider doughnuts and took a hay ride.  But while there I shot this photo and when I checked it on the camera it looked kinda 3 D ish and guess what, once downloaded to the computer it still looked that way! Amazing!  Sometimes I surprise myself and this was one of those times.

So that's it for today everyone!   Don't forget the "Back to Spool" promotion is almost over so if you want to take advantage just contact me to place an order!

Windblown hugs!
